Lions play today so - welcome to the start of the new season. Cutting right to the chase, we’re going to talk about:
- Making some requested league updates
- Coming up with the best day(s) for the draft
- Voting on additional league changes

Now For The Updates…
Roster Settings
- Bench size is increasing to 8 slots
- Taxi Squad size is remaining at 5 slots
I’m boosting the bench to 8 so you can stash more players. This should have an effect of facilitating more trades as the waivers will be scarce. The taxi squad will remain at five spots.
Draft
- The “Rico Dowdle” Rule: Draft will open to all players (rookies & current waivers), not just rookies
- I’ll be adding an extra round (due to the increase in bench capacity)
- We will be moving to a long draft (longer time between picks)
Every player’s on the board. If a waiver players’ stock has increased in the off season, you’ll have an opportunity to use a pick to draft them.
Day 1 of the draft will involve rounds 1 and 2. The objective here is to allow owners more time to think over both their picks, and potential trades/moves they could make while on the clock. The remaining rounds will extend through the course of the following week.
Other
- Compensatory pick awarded for high-impact trades at the end of Round 3 the following year
Successful trade deals have been an issue. This is a small incentive to help promote more trade deals getting done.
If anyone has any feedback or better ideas for this, please let me know.
Items to Vote On
Finally, we have some additional ideas that I will put to a vote in a Google Form that you will (likely already have) received.
- $5 additional buy in for weekly group parlay
Why? If passed, every week I will send out a poll for each owner for every game that week to pick the winning team. If the bet hits one week, that money will be immediately added to the league pot. - Median Scoring option to reward lineup consistency (definition)
Why? Teams that get super lucky, or incredibly unlucky week over week are slightly balanced out in final standings.
Fairness 📈, excitement of unpredictability 📉 - Top seeds get to pick playoff opponent
Why? Adds interesting dynamic to playoffs - top seed get benefit of choosing their opponent in the early rounds. Further rewards a good regular season, but less random. - In-Season Tournament
Why? Spice up the middle of the season. I’ve yet to flesh out the details on this, but each team would still play every other team the appropriate number of times. Winner would get either a cash prize or a premium draft pick. Open to suggestions.
